The Hedoine Hipshaker - A Champagne Cocktail

Here we go Hēdoïnes, New Years Eve is incoming (how did that happen so fast?) and we’ve got just the playmate to match your playlist. Bubbly champagne meets the dry, dark humour of gin. No fancy cocktail skills required - just some fancy dress.

If we had you at champagne then grand, that’s the first thing you’ll need and time to treat yourself, it’s New Years after all. May we recommend Veuve Clicquot, Moët, Taittinger or Laurent Perrier. Cheer every cork you pop.

Next you’ll need gin and gin’s best friend - lemon. With love from Londoners, we suggest you get one (or all..) of the following London Dry Gins in your liquor cabinet for this champagne cocktail. Savile Row Gin, East London Gin, Sipsmith and Monkey 47 are the Hēdoïne HQ most-poured. We could go on but we’re getting too thirsty.

You’re now ready for the recipe. The official champagne cocktail recipe of Hēdoïne HQ, well-known as the French 75 but now-known as The Hēdoïne Hipshaker. You’ll see.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 oz. Dry London Gin
  • 5 oz. Champagne
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • 1 tsp super fine sugar

METHOD:

  • Shake gin, lemon juice, and sugar well with cracked ice in a chilled cocktail shaker. Some good songs for shaking include Sisters are Doin It For Themselves, Hey Ya!, I’m Coming Out, and Tutti Frutti.
  • Strain into a glass half-full with ice, then top with champagne.
  • Get a little lemon rind in there if you wish.
  • Allow the hip shaking to happen naturally as the corks pop.

Team with party legwear and enjoy. Happy New Year Hēdoïnes, cheers to you.
